The Project Manager plays one of the most essential roles at Newport Solar. This position oversees all phases of residential and small commercial solar projects from planning through activation, ensuring work is delivered safely, accurately, and on schedule.
This role requires an active Rhode Island Master Electrician license. Candidates who do not hold a Master Electrician license cannot be considered.
The Project Manager serves as the bridge between engineering, system design, sales, and field operations. This role manages timelines, coordinates field execution, resolves issues, maintains communication with customers, and ensures each project reflects Newport Solar’s quality and craftsmanship standards.
- Oversee assigned residential and small commercial solar projects from design through final completion.
- Prepare and review engineering drawings, plan sets, system layouts, pricing details, and supporting documentation.
- Conduct technical site visits to confirm design feasibility and gather field data.
- Identify risks or delays early and propose solutions.
- Track project progress using project management software and Google Workspace.
- Manage the full customer journey from project welcome through system activation.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customers during installation.
- Respond promptly to customer communication via phone, text, and email.
- Maintain a professional, proactive presence throughout the project lifecycle.
- Prepare and submit permit applications to local authorities and utilities.
- Coordinate inspections and provide required documentation.
- Communicate with utility partners regarding interconnection and activation.
- Ensure compliance with NEC, OSHA, state, and utility standards.
- Coordinate crew assignments and project timelines with the company scheduler.
- Brief installation crews on project scope, drawings, hazards, and specific requirements.
- Conduct job site visits to verify workmanship and quality.
- Collaborate with design, engineering, scheduling, sales, and field teams.
- Complete all project closeout tasks including documentation, photos, manuals, warranties, and interconnection results.
- Perform battery system closeouts and program enrollment steps.
- Ensure all project records are complete and accurate.
- Identify workflow improvements and bottleneck reductions.
- Participate in weekly operations and safety meetings.
- Develop and maintain SOPs to support consistent, scalable operations.
- Support adoption of new project management and workflow tools.
- Strong Analytical Ability: Able to interpret technical information, evaluate field conditions, and support decisions with data and experience.

- Active Rhode Island Master Electrician license required.
- 5-10 years of experience in solar, electrical, or construction project management.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams, engineering drawings, and system layouts.
- Strong communication skills with customers, inspectors, utility partners, and internal teams.
- Ability to analyze field conditions and troubleshoot effectively.
- High proficiency with Google Workspace and project management tools.
- Strong organizational ability with the capacity to manage multiple active projects.
