Reporting to the Senior Manager, Financial Reporting and Consolidations, you will be responsible for supporting the Consolidation and Financial Reporting team with close processes, financial reporting and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements including preparing monthly reconciliations for financial statement areas.
- Help coordinate and execute the quarterly consolidation and close process that drives the financial statements of Terraform Power and Brookfield Renewable
- Prepare, record journal entries (depreciation/amortization/etc) and complete monthly general ledger close functions for assigned areas, examples include Property, Plant and Equipment (“PPE”), Asset Retirement Obligation (“ARO”), and intangibles (collectively “Fixed Assets”), Long-Term Debt, Financial Instruments, etc
- Prepare and record journal entries to convert and compare US GAAP and IFRS ledgers.
- Prepare supporting schedules and analysis required for financial statements and disclosures, management reporting, and audit evidence including variance analysis and cash flow.
- Assist with Internal Controls and process improvement
- Assist with other SOX Compliance responsibilities
- Assist with automation and system process improvement projects
- Assist with technical accounting and non-recurring transactions, such as acquisitions and divestitures
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Recognized professional accounting designation (CPA)
- Minimum of three to five (3-5) years of progressive work experience
- Solid analytical abilities, combined with being detail-oriented
- High energy level, comfortable performing multifaceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities
- Superior interpersonal abilities including an ability to get along with diverse personalities in a tactful, mature, and flexible manner
- Strong problem-solving, time management and organizational skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
- Resourceful, well organized and the ability to prioritize
- Strong financial systems experience, including advanced Excel
- Fixed Assets accounting experience preferred, but not required
- Demonstrated knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP
Note: Offices continue to be central to collaboration and Brookfield’s identity. This position requires the employee to be on-site for a minimum of 4 days to perform most effectively.
