The aeroderivative gas turbine business will rely on you to guide the induction, development and standardisation of robust engineering solutions for the SGT-A35 product. To understand the requirements of the product you’ll be integrated into the portfolio responsible for developing the product, here you’ll hear first-hand the limitations to be overcome and the opportunities to be captured as well as the product priorities. With a large group of engineering staff in Montreal you’ll guide other engineering groups in the UK, India and Mexico to produce solutions to improve product attributes from performance and cost through to durability. Throughout the year you’ll dedicate time to guiding the careers of your staff, both giving and receiving performance feedback.
- Be accountable to the Head of Core Engineering for delivery of work that meets the cost, quality and timeline expectations of the business
- Develop and maintain the required level of capability (people, methods, tools, and technology) within your department through personal development, continuous improvement and performance management activities
- You will develop and manage global engineering teams to enable your department capacity to achieve the required throughput and to absorb variations in demand
- Work with portfolio management, procurement and operations to deliver high-performing gas turbine systems that meet the needs of the business and integrate well with the rest of the product
- Be a Product Development Process reviewer for your department, approving solutions created by the department
- You will be responsible for the operational effectiveness and cost center management of the group, including short interval control, metrics and process improvement
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree or similar discipline in Engineering and are a member or eligible to become member of the "l'Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec"
- Have a strong track record of leading either teams or projects
- At least 10 years experience in gas turbine component engineering, with deep knowledge of at least one discipline and broad knowledge of the field
- Experience of working in or leading internationally dispersed project teams, including management of intellectual property and export control compliance
- Experience of working with manufacturing to optimise manufacturability and to reduce cost through redesign
- This position is in a French-speaking environment but requires fluency in English to comprehend documentation and technical terms from international sources, and to communicate with customers, suppliers, or international colleagues.
