Transformer Technician
III Supervisor
to join our dynamic and fast-growing team. The
Transformer Technician III Supervisor
will oversee the installation, assembly, maintenance, repair, and testing of a diverse range of transformers from various Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs). For more information about RMS Energy, please visit www.rmsenergy.com.

Responsibilities•Supervise and support the assembly of transformers, including radiators, bushings, conservators, and other key components.
•Lead degassing operations, oil sampling, filling, and oil processing rig procedures per dry-out protocols.
•Manage re-gasketing efforts, including the creation and installation of gaskets and O-rings.
•Oversee the removal of damaged components and ensure equipment is properly prepared for transportation.
•Perform pressure testing and vacuum procedures using dehydrator units, ensuring full compliance with operational standards.
•Troubleshoot and repair control wiring to support the reliability and safety of transformer systems.
•Conduct and oversee comprehensive transformer testing, including Megger, TTR, SFRA, Power Factor, Core Ground, and accessory testing such as passivation and system protection alarms.
•Execute electrical testing as required by OEMs, utility companies, and end users.
•Ensure test results are thoroughly documented, reviewed, and customer reports are submitted promptly and accurately.
•Manage work order completion and daily repair tasks while upholding high-quality standards.
•Maintain tools, vehicles, and equipment in safe operating condition through proactive inspections and scheduling of maintenance.
•Enforce adherence to company policies, safety protocols, and environmental regulations, especially those related to spill containment.
•Operate industrial and construction equipment safely, monitoring compliance with capacity and load limits.
•Collaborate with Sales by identifying and sharing leads for potential projects.
•Support recruitment activities and hiring initiatives as needed.
•Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
•5-10 years of experience in transformer oil work, transformer testing, transformer assembly, transformer service, or transferable experience.
•High school diploma or equivalent required.
•Class A CDL, OSHA, and TWIC cards are highly preferred.
•Strong familiarity with Microsoft Office, online tools, and basic computer skills.
•Advanced Load Tap Changer experience.
•Previous experience operating electrical equipment and shop tools is a plus.
•Prior experience in degassing and oil processing is preferred.
•Able to interpret work scopes, drawings, diagrams, and technical documents (both).
•Knowledge or related experience in prepping units for disposal following proper environmental disposal procedures.
•Strong communication skills to effectively interact with both internal and external customers positively and professionally.
•Able to work independently and complete projects with minimal supervision.
Other Requirements
•Must be able to pass a drug test and periodic, unannounced random drug tests, and a pre-employment criminal background check.
•Must complete annual safety training to remain compliant with company policies and safety regulations. Training may occasionally require travel outside the employee’s assigned state or region.
•Valid and current driver's license with a clean driving record.
•Must be willing and able to travel frequently (minimum 80%), including daily drives to customer job sites and periodic overnight stays; flexible to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and nights as needed.
•Must be able to pass a DOT physical exam.

Working Conditions
This job requires the ability to respond to 24/7 call-outs and to work extended hours, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed. Work may be conducted outdoors in all weather conditions, near low-, medium-, and high-voltage equipment and heavy machinery, in areas with elevations in excess of 100 feet, and confined spaces, adhering to strict safety protocols. Exposure to loud noises from machinery is common, necessitating the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). This job involves the risk of electrical shock. This job requires frequent travel between RMS facilities and customer sites.
Physical Requirements
The position demands physical mobility to navigate uneven surfaces, the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly, fine motor skills for handling small components and tools, and the capability to climb ladders and work at heights. Sustained physical effort, including standing, bending, pushing, digging, pulling, kneeling, crawling, and reaching for extended periods, is required. Good vision, including color vision and depth perception, and the ability to hear alarms and communications in noisy environments are essential. Additionally, proficiency in speaking, hearing, reading, and typing in English is required for effective communication and documentation.
