Reporting to the Manager of Technical Services, you will be part of the Engineering Department. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
- Primary responsibility in the area of mine ventilation (ensuring compliance and overseeing ventilation techs);
- Provide coaching and technical support for the ventilation department;
- Monitoring airflow, air quality, and temperature measurements and creating weekly reports;
- Performing audits on auxiliary ventilation installation quality and recommending improvements;
- Ensuring compliance with ventilation related regulatory requirements;
- Designing auxiliary ventilation circuits;
- Maintain an up-to-date Ventsim model of the mine;
- Determining diesel equipment allowances;
- Coordinating Silica and DMP testing;
- Reviewing methane testing;
- Creating and maintaining ventilation and U/G emergency related drawings;
- Follow ups on ventilation related events;
- Any training within or outside department (within mine), as required;
- Provide constant coaching and support to ventilation group;
- Constant communication with all other departments with underground exposure to ensure all safety protocols are followed and understood in relation to ventilation;
- Maintain communication of plans/strategies with Manager Technical Services and Superintendent Mine Planning.
- Mining Engineering Degree, Mining Engineering Technician or Technologist Diploma;
- P.Eng Designation with a minimum of 5 years of progressive professional experience with underground mining and ventilation;
- Ability to work independently and lead the ventilation team;
- Proficiency with Ventsim, Deswik, AutoCad, and Microsoft Office Suite;
- Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
Schedule: 4/3 (Monday to Thursday) schedule at our Macassa Mine in Kirkland Lake, ON.
