We are currently seeking a Technical Leader, Underground Operations to join our Hydrometallurgy team in Sheridan Park, Mississauga.
As a Technical Leader, Underground Operations, you will provide the highest-level expert technical direction to global Vale Base Metals (VBM) for the practice of SME. The SME has unique talent and is recognized as an internal consultant accountable for assessing risk to the business, applying knowledge for solutions, verifications, defining processes, policies, procedures and communicating technical concepts for systems that span Base Metal projects, studies, applications, LoA Planning and systems
- Serve as a trusted legal and risk management advisor, providing expert insights to Directors, General Managers, and influencing decisions at the Board level.
- Act as a global authority in the discipline, leading system optimization and integrating emerging technologies to enhance effectiveness and efficiency.
- Review and approve Base Metals FEL study designs, ensuring high-quality, reliable, and accurate outputs through collaboration with external peer reviewers.
- Lead global long-term strategic mine planning and optimization studies to support resource-to-reserve conversion.
- Interpret and apply laws, regulations, and company policies, providing expert guidance and engaging with global regulatory specialists as needed.
- Define and maintain global standards, procedures, and guidelines to support safe and effective operations across the organization.
- Collaborate cross-functionally across departments and business units to align practices and drive continuous improvement.
- Lead talent development initiatives, including recruitment, mentoring, coaching, and managing the global Community of Practice.
- Provide specialized expertise to address knowledge gaps and support complex projects across the organization.
- Represent the company in external regulatory and industry forums, contributing to the advancement of standards and sharing best practices through publications and speaking engagements.
- Undergraduate degree in relevant discipline is required
- P.Eng is required
- Graduate Degree (MSc or PhD) is preferred.- Sound engineering principles with extensive mining experience.
