HSPP is currently seeking an experienced Shipper/Receiver to join our team. The chosen candidate must have at least 5 years’ working experience as a Shipper/Receiver. HSPP is looking for a self-motivated, organized individual who has strong communication skills, great attention to detail and thrives working in a team environment. - Carry out all duties and responsibilities in a safe manner in accordance with all health and safety policies, directives, and requirements of the employer
- Answer telephone calls as necessary and direct or handle the inquiries in the appropriate manner
- Coordinate with Production to ensure efficient daily shipping routes
- Loading and unloading trucks with incoming and outgoing shipments
- Complete paperwork, tests, training and logs as required
- Be able to move steel parts using overhead cranes, forklift, manually, or using other material handling equipment as needed
- Plan and carry out material movement based on schedules and instructions
- Maintain regular communication with supervisors and co-workers regarding material movement requirements
- Keep secure records of ingoing and outgoing inventory
- Pack and unpack materials received and distribute to the appropriate departments
- Prepare and package steel parts/plates for distribution. This can include but not limited to labelling, kitting, color coding, skidding, banding etc according to given instructions.
- Maintain quality control of goods by verifying incoming and outgoing shipments
- Schedule and record incoming and outgoing shipments as per company guidelines
- Prepare and/or sign off on shipping documents (i.e.: bills of lading, invoices, etc.) as per company procedures
- Report any damaged stock or equipment to superiors in a timely manner based on company guidelines
- Maintain a clean and safe warehouse environment
- Retrieve plate information in order to receive materials into Inventory using our ERP system
- Prepare the necessary paperwork/labels to ship packages via couriers such as UPS, FED Ex, Purolator etc.
- Prepare Packing Slips bills of lading as needed
- Provide documents to customers as needed; example Test Certs, POD etc.
- Be available and assist with yearly inventory counts as directed
- Valid driver’s license
- At least 5 years’ experience in warehouse work or inventory recording (experience working in a steel manufacturing environment is an asset)
- Have some basic clerical knowledge or experience
- Proficiency in operating a forklift and other warehouse equipment’s
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in order processing
- Overhead Crane experience is an asset
