Accountabilities: How You Will Make an Impact
Provide nuclear safety and licensing support to clients in the nuclear sector in the area of Probabilistic Safety Assessment (PSA) under the Risk Management Directorate. General accountabilities include:
•Assist in the development, modification, and/or review of PSA-related products such as fault trees, event trees, unavailability models, EOOS models, MAAP analysis and risk assessment reports.
•Act as consultant providing Probabilistic Safety Assessment services to external customers.
•Provide operational and programmatic risk and reliability support to nuclear utilities.
•Assist as necessary with project management activities.
•Assist in developing business proposals for new PSA-related work, including estimates of costs, scheduling, and resource management.
•Assist the Department Manager/General Manager in developing strategies and plans to respond to customers’ problems.
•Keep informed on the latest issues and industry developments in the area of PSA.
What You Need to Succeed
•Requires advanced knowledge of the theory, principles, and practices associated with science and engineering disciplines normally acquired in a 4-year university education. Knowledge and work experience of Probabilistic Risk Assessment techniques and Risk Management applications.
•Good working knowledge of CANDU nuclear power plant design and operation would be an asset.
•Good working knowledge of reactor safety and licensing principles.
•Familiarity with Canadian regulatory requirements.
•Practical working knowledge of PSA-related codes.
•Familiarity with the CSA N286 series of Quality Assurance Standards.
•Practical knowledge and experience in project management methodologies and tools.
•P.Eng. or eligibility for licensure in Canada is a strong asset.
•A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in PSA/risk management work, nuclear station engineering or project management of nuclear safety station support work

•Strong attention to detail and quality assurance requirements.
•Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and a demonstrated capability to interface effectively with and gain the trust of clients.
•Proven computer skills with a variety of software programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Passport.
•Hard working and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
