Summary
: DMC is currently looking for a
Payroll and Benefits Specialistto join our team on a permanent basis, based in
Vaughan, Ontario. The Payroll & Benefits Specialist will be responsible for accurately processing the semi-monthly payroll activities for all employees across North America and other jurisdictions (as needed). The Payroll & Benefits Specialist will be required to ensure that all payroll related, and reporting activities are administered according to fixed payroll deadlines both internally and externally. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, a team player with excellent organizational and communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Accurately coordinate and administer payroll functions for hourly and salary employees across Canada and USA on a semi-monthly basis including the preparation, calculation and disbursement of wages, deductions, overtime payments, incentive earnings and garnishments.
- Collaborate with Human Resources to ensure the integrity of employee records by collecting and verifying payroll-related information, including employee information, taxable benefits, sick leave and vacation entitlement, and processing information changes from Dynamics 365 ERP system to the Avanti payroll system.
- Collaborate with Site Operations to ensure integrity of employee timesheet hours are collected from the Dynamics 365 ERP system and uploaded to the Avanti payroll system.
- Assist with expatriate payroll activities where required.
- Process and administer benefits and RRSP and prepare related billings to Manulife.
- Calculate, reconcile, and process related payroll remittances (including WSIB) in a timely manner.
- Ensure the accurate creation and timely submission of ROEs as required.
- Prepare standardized Year End/New Year reports (T4, T4A, and T2200), ad-hoc reports, journal entries and accruals, and assist in annual audits as required.
- Resolve payroll discrepancies and answer inquiries from employees and government agencies regarding payroll and related policies and procedures across Canada and USA.
- Complying with federal and provincial legal requirements by remaining updated on legislation, applying necessary changes to processes to ensure adherence to requirements, and advising management on required actions.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in full cycle payroll processing, ideally with experience in manual and high-volume payroll administration.
- Knowledge of Canadian and USA payroll legislation and basic accounting principles.
- Knowledge of USA Payroll (An Asset to have).
- Proficient with Microsoft applications (Excel, Word).
- Experience in ERP system administration, ideally with Avanti and/or Dynamics 365 is highly preferred.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to work to tight deadlines.
- Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail and accuracy a must.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) Certification is an asset.- Salary Range is expected to be between: $75,000.00 CAD to $85,000.00 CAD + short-term incentive plan bonus.
