Lead Operations, Optimize Workflows, Ensure Timely, High-Quality Results
Reporting to the Geochem Lab Manager, the Operations Coordinator (Geochemistry) plays a key role in driving continuous improvement and operational excellence within the lab. By assessing and optimizing lab services and procedures, you will help streamline operations, increase sample throughput, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, defensible data—safely and on time. Leveraging Lean Six Sigma methodologies, you will support efficient and compliant production workflows, optimize the use of staff, resources, and equipment, and foster strong teamwork and engagement across departments. Your leadership will directly contribute to enhancing operational efficiency, strengthening our market presence, and embedding a culture of continuous improvement throughout the team.
- Maintain production and quality targets while ensuring optimal staffing to meet operational, safety, and financial goals.
- Train employees on SOP’s, safety procedures, equipment use.
- Assess and recommend resource planning to improve process efficiency.
- Motivate and coach staff, set goals, review performance and identify training needs.
- Schedule and prioritize workflow to meet client deadlines; monitor team performance and adjust resources as needed.
- Lead initiatives to reduce waste, minimize process variability, and implement data-driven improvements that enhance efficiency, quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.
- Support implementation of new methods and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Investigate client complaints, NCRs, and re-work root causes to ensure quality and customer satisfaction
- Monitor performance against benchmarks and KPIs. addressing strengths and areas for improvement.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols
- Technical diploma or B.Sc. degree in a science-related field
- 3-5 years of experience in a production lab setting
- 3+ years of supervisory experience in a laboratory- Excellent critical thinking, problem solving, and management skills
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Ability to foster collaboration and implement best practices
- Strong time-management, strategic planning, and organizational skills
- Ability to drive efficiency and streamline operations
- Strengths in continuous improvement, process improvement, and lab operations
