The Assembly Line Lead supports the Assembly Line Supervisor in managing day-to-day operations on the production floor. This role serves as a working lead hand overseeing workflow, guiding team members, and ensuring productivity, quality, and safety standards are consistently met. The Lead also acts as a backup supervisor during absences or peak production periods, providing continuity of leadership.
- Assist the Supervisor in coordinating daily production schedules and ensuring workstations are set up efficiently.
- Monitor production flow and promptly address minor issues to keep lines running smoothly.
- Act as the first point of contact for assemblers with questions, concerns, or task clarification.
- Provide on-the-job training, coaching, and guidance to employees to build skill and efficiency.
- Step into the Supervisor’s role during absences (e.g., breaks, vacations, meetings) to ensure leadership coverage.
- Support with basic administrative tasks such as attendance tracking, reporting, and shift handover notes.
- Inspect output to verify quality standards are met before moving products downstream.
- Reinforce safety protocols and escalate safety concerns to the Supervisor or Safety Coordinator.
- Report performance or operational issues back to the Supervisor for follow-up.
- Add Ensure proper use, care, and reporting of tools, equipment, and materials.
- Assist in continuous improvement initiatives, including reducing downtime and waste.
- Maintain accurate production and quality records as required.
- Help with workforce allocation, including reassigning staff to priority tasks during bottlenecks.
- Support in onboarding new hires to ensure smooth integration into the team.- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in an assembly or production environment.
- Previous experience as a lead hand, team lead, or acting supervisor is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of assembly processes, equipment, and safety standards.
- Ability to motivate and mentor team members while maintaining a positive work environment.
- Good communication skills (verbal and written).
- Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and efficiency.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Basic computer skills for reporting and documentation.
- Problem-solving skills with the ability to make quick decisions under pressure.
