Structural Engineer
XRG Technologies is offering an exciting opportunity for a Structural Engineer to join our fast-growing company. XRG’s Mechanical Design group is looking for someone that will expand their structural engineering capabilities. The immediate need is for someone experienced with mechanical and structural calculations of steel structures and equipment. Familiarity with fabrication and general arrangement drawings as well as AISC and ASCE7 standards is necessary to perform the required design work. Structural calculations are primarily performed with XRG design tools and RISA-3D. Training will begin immediately. This position offers a lot of potential for growth.

Minimum Required Experience
•Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
•3 years of structural design experience in a relevant field post-degree
•Heavy steel structure design experience with wind & seismic loadings
•Familiarity with design and construction standards such as ASME, AWS, ASTM, ASCE, and AISC
•Experience with performing, documenting, and reporting mechanical/structural calculations
•Familiarity with general arrangement drawings, detailed fabrication drawings, demolition drawings, erection drawings, and other drawings typical to the oil and gas industry
•Knowledge of industry-standard checking procedures and ability to oversee and check design work
•Familiarity with industry construction materials, tolerances, codes, specifications and design guidelines
•Experience with 3D CAD design software and GA/detailed drawing production from 3D
•Experience working independently and in small teams
•Desire to learn and solve problems
Desired Experience
•Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Architectural Engineering with a Structural Emphasis
•5 years of structural design experience in a relevant field post-degree
•Licensed Professional Engineer
•Experience in the oil and gas industry
•Experience in fired heaters or refractory design
•Wind and seismic design of open and closed frame structures per AISC and ASCE 7
•Proficiency in RISA-3D or IDEA StatiCa
•Programming skills in Excel/VBA
•Construction management experience
•Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D), Solidworks, and/or Tekla Structures
•Experience with Finite Element Analysis

Job Functions:
•Participate as a member of the Mechanical Design group, focused on expanding the group’s structural capabilities and helping take XRG into the future with tools and methodologies that sets it apart from others
•Design complex oil and gas equipment, including heavy steel structures such as fired heaters, boilers, auxiliary equipment, and support structures
•Perform and check others’ mechanical and/or structural calculations with major focus on heavy steel design per AISC and ASCE 7
•Develop design standards and tools to effectively meet project requirements, resolve problems, and continually improve internal design processes
•Solve challenging problems that involve investigative problem solving, require clever ingenuity, and demand simultaneous big-picture thinking and small detail precision
•Collaborate with sales, execution, process engineering, external manufacturing companies, and customers to understand market needs and constraints while balancing company objectives
•Perform field surveys and design work, including; ascertain current equipment conditions, measurement of existing equipment, design superior solutions to complex retrofit challenges, design modifications to existing equipment, communicate with client personnel and direct construction/installation work
•Assist customers with product-related questions and participate in field trials
