JOB SUMMARY
The General Manager, Production Operations is a key leadership role responsible for driving Operational excellence in Dolese’s aggregate operations. This position oversees production planning, manages product inventories and production costs across multiple sites—including crushed stone, washed sand, and rail logistics—and ensures maximum operational performance. The role involves leading a team of Production Operations Managers, spearheading continuous improvement initiatives, maintaining compliance with regulatory standards, and achieving ambitious production and cost targets. Emphasis is placed on quality control and stakeholder satisfaction, with the goal of directly influencing company growth and customer experience. Collaboration with Aggregate Sales and General Manager, Reliability & Maintenance is essential to setting strategic direction and elevating operational standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
•Provide transparency of production forecast, proactively communicating with sales to provide optimal levels of inventories
•Provide assessments of production capabilities for Dolese assets to support informed decision-making and collaborating with the Aggregate Sales and Business Development teams
•Foster a culture of trust, encouraging open dialogue, reporting concerns, and addressing issues promptly to cultivate an environment of integrity and mutual respect
•Ensure relationships with local community stakeholders and vendors are maintained and resolve any issues that might arise
•Ensure consistent accounting and tracking of all operational Production processes to enable analysis and reporting of key financial indicators and inform leadership of significant deviations
•Maintain and foster a positive safety culture by encouraging every employee to internalize safety as a personal value and participate in proactive safety activities such as Near Miss Reporting
•Recognize safe behaviors, acknowledging and rewarding employees who demonstrate proactive safety practices to reinforce positive behavior
•Engage employees, actively seek input and feedback from frontline workers on safety concerns, suggestions, and improvements
•Achieve 90% participation rate for employees at respective locations completing Near Miss reporting and Field Level Risk Assessments
•Audit various sites safety records to ensure compliance with company and MSHA standards
•Perform root cause accident analyses of recordable incidents and provide corrective actions to accomplish the company goal of zero recordable injuries
•Develop Operations Managers by providing coaching, feedback, continuing education opportunities, and Production Planning continuous improvement assignments
•Work collaboratively with Engineering to inform and execute mine plans for respective sites
•Work collaboratively across the organization to meet shared Production objectives, crediting others for their contributions and accomplishments
•Partner with Aggregate Sales, Business Development, and Reliability and Maintenance (R&M) to make timely and well-informed decisions, balancing customer needs with production capabilities and inventory levels
•Collaborate with technology stakeholders to automate the tracking, reporting, and accuracy of Production and point of sale activities
•Evaluate new technologies, recommend the purchase of new equipment, and negotiate associated purchase transactions
•Integrate Lean into the culture and organization to enable employees to improve their respective processes
•Utilize the Performance KPI as defined by the Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) calculation, to track and improve the production capabilities of site operations.
•Utilize sales market data and plant production data to support Production Operations Managers and Superintendents in providing optimal days on inventory of aggregates.
•Utilize site production performance and operational cost data to create annual capital submissions for various sites.
•Collaborate with Human Resources to ensure appropriate processes and best practices are utilized for all employee matters, including but not limited to, compensation, coaching & development, recruitment and performance evaluations
•Regular, reliable attendance at the worksite or assigned work location
•Other duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
•Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Business Administration, Construction Management, or a related discipline and 10 years of progressively responsible related experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience required
•7+ years of management experience in a similar production or manufacturing leadership role
•Lean Six Sigma Green Belt required or willingness to obtain in first year of employment
•Industry experience required

•Must be able to effectively communicate with both internal and external audiences
•Analytical ability and resourcefulness, as required in developing and implementing improved processes and resolving operating problems
•Ability to travel occasionally for work to field locations and/or to attend meetings or training
•Ability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, nights, and weekends as required
•Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
•Lift objects of various dimensions and up to 100 lbs. of weight frequently
•Ability to work near, around, or on light or heavy equipment
•Ability to repeatedly climb stairs and ladders
•Ability to repeatedly balance, bend from the trunk, crawl, kneel, push and pull objects
•Ability to use vibration producing tools frequently
•Ability to tolerate working outdoors in all environmental temperatures and weather conditions
•Ability to repeatedly reach, squat, and tolerate prolonged standing/walking/sitting
•Ability to frequently walk on uneven surfaces
