The Controller is a senior-level financial leader responsible for overseeing all accounting, financial reporting, cash management, and compliance functions for a $13MM sheet metal fabrication organization in Tulsa, Oklahoma. This role ensures accurate financials, strong internal controls, efficient accounting operations, and proactive financial planning to support growth, fabrication workflow, job costing accuracy, and strategic decision-making.
- Oversee all accounting operations: A/R, A/P, payroll, fixed assets, and general ledger management.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Maintain a robust monthly closing process with timely reconciliations.
- Analyze financial performance, variances, and trends; present findings to leadership.
- Manage yearly budgeting and reforecasting; compare actuals to budget and provide commentary.
- Ensure accurate labor, material, burden, and overhead allocation for custom sheet metal jobs.
- Maintain integrity between ERP (JobBOSS2) and QuickBooks Enterprise.
- Manage cash flow forecasting and daily cash position.
- Oversee banking relationships, line-of-credit compliance, and covenants.
- Supervise customer deposit tracking, progress billing, retainage, and cash applications.
- Establish and enforce financial policies and approval workflows.
- Ensure compliance with payroll laws, sales/use tax, federal/state filings, and 1099s.
- Prepare documentation for CPA review/tax return preparation.
- Streamline accounting workflows and automate repetitive tasks.
- Maintain chart of accounts structure, cost centers, and reporting hierarchies.
- Oversee ERP/accounting integrations, especially job costing and inventory.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to increase accuracy and efficiency.
- Supervise accounting staff (A/R, A/P, payroll, bookkeeper).
- Train the team on accounting procedures and system usage.
- Serve as strategic advisor providing financial guidance to management.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA/CMA preferred.
- 5+ years progressive accounting experience, including manufacturing.
- Strong understanding of job costing and inventory accounting.
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, XLOOKUP, modeling).
- Experience in sheet metal, machining, or fabrication environments.
- Understanding of material costing, work centers, and production flow.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
