TUBE MILL PRODUCTION TECHNICIAN

SUMMARY
FlexRack is seeking a skilled Tube Mill Production Technician to join our team. The Tube Mill Production Technician will be responsible for operating and maintaining tube mill equipment to ensure the efficient production of high-quality solar mounting components. This position reports to the Production Manager, or another management personnel that the CEO of the Company may designate. This position is located on-site in North Jackson, and working hours are Monday through Friday, from 4:30 PM to 2:30 AM and Saturday through Sunday from 2:30 PM to 10:30 PM (Saturday) and 2:30 PM to 10:30 PM (Sunday) local time. Overtime and weekend working hours may be required as needed. This position is expected to travel up to 5%.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITIES
•Select and verify slit coils to be joined and fed into tube mill match order requirements for width, gage, and steel grade.
•Load slit coils onto payoff reel with coil car and feeds coil ends into end welder.
•Set up, adjust, and operate end welder equipment to make welds of adequate quality that do not cause tube mill downtime.
•Operate strip accumulator equipment.
•Observe incoming strip entering mill and advise Tube Mill Operator if defects are present.
•Advise Tube Mill Operator when a coil end weld is entering the tube mill.
•Assist in changing over and setting up the tube mill.
•Enter correct slit coil number onto Mill Production Report.
•Refer concerns about strip quality or equipment condition to Shift Supervisor or Tube Mill Operator.
•Use hand grinder, caliper, micrometer.
•Communicate with employees of other shifts regarding status of operations, equipment, etc.
•Perform routine preventive maintenance procedures on end welder, strip accumulator, and temper mill.
•Assist maintenance repairman in repair of end welder, strip accumulator, and temper mill.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
•3 + years of Experience in Structural Steel Roll Forming Manufacturing.
•2 + years of Experience with identifying and applying LEAN principles.
•Ability to work in a safe manner
•Ability to recognize quality of material
•Demonstrated ability to perform Lock Out/Tag Out
•Demonstrated ability to follow specific instructions and directions
•Demonstrated ability to use and operate hand tools
•Demonstrated ability to stack material properly
•Ability to pay attention to surroundings
•Ability to identify safety issues in the work area and identify equipment malfunctions
•Ability to read a tape measure and read blueprints or plans
•Ability to troubleshoot the machine or equipment in use.
•Ability to understand efficiencies and productivity measures

•Vision: Close and distance vision are crucial, along with depth perception and the ability to distinguish colors, for navigating and operating the equipment safetly.
•Sitting/Standing/Walking: The role requires the ability to sit, stand, and walk for periods of time during the shift.
•Flexibility: Bending, stooping, twisting, and crouching may be required for tasks like inspecting equipment, or navigating tight spaces.
•Reaching: Using arms to reach for controls and materials is a regular part of the job.
