Position Overview
Reporting to the CFO, the Tax Manager will lead the Global tax function for Preformed Line Products Company (“PLP”). The role will actively manage the quarterly and annual income tax provision process, domestic tax compliance, and tax projects geared towards reducing tax expense and improving cash flow. This individual will collaborate with the international subsidiaries, each of which are responsible for managing the income tax accounting and compliance activities for their respective countries, most often through engagement with third party tax advisors.
The Tax Manager is responsible for ensuring income tax expense is properly determined and reported in accordance with US GAAP and SEC requirements. This position will also have heavy involvement in managing the timely compliance of all U.S. non-income-based taxes.
The Tax Manager will oversee the activities completed by an internal tax consultant focused on international income tax matters and will manage the relationship with third party professional tax organizations utilized to augment the PLP tax team.
Key Responsibilities
•Manage the global income tax provision process with significant involvement in the review and approval of international tax packages received from the international subsidiaries. Ensure the quarterly and annual income tax provisions are completed timely and accurately.
•Collaborate with third party tax advisors to review new income tax legislation, guidance and regulations ensuring appropriate implementation while minimizing the negative impact on the income statement and cash flows.
•Maximize opportunities for tax expense reduction and cash flow enhancement while protecting the reputation of PLP as a solid tax citizen.
•Ensure the global tax function inclusive of the regional controllers and subsidiary finance controllers have appropriate internal controls in place and operating effectively.
•Oversee U.S. federal income tax compliance to ensure returns are accurately, timely and efficiently prepared and substantial authority exists for positions taken. Lead the development and implementation of U.S. federal income tax compliance and accounting processes to efficiently meet compliance requirements.
•Analyze complex transactions and issues for potential tax impacts.
•Manage IRS audits to ensure timely responses to inquiries, continue to advance the real-time audit vision with the audit teams, and continue to promote the favorable relational aspects of the IRS audit.
•Manage all aspects of non-income tax matters for U.S. operations including but not limited to real estate taxes, personal property taxes, sales and use taxes and VAT. This includes ensuring accurate, timely and efficient compliance and payment standards serving to minimize both non-income tax expense as well as any penalties relating to the process.
•Provide guidance and support to internal departments on indirect tax matters, including procurement, finance and legal teams.
•Manage and prepare the account reconciliations for all U.S. income tax and non-income tax balance sheet accounts.
•Manage the relationships and distribution of work for both internal consultants and third-party tax professionals.

Qualifications and Requirements
•Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance; Master’s in Accounting, Master of Tax, MBA LLM preferred
•Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: CPA preferred
•Required Experience: 7-12 years of progressively more responsible Tax assignments, with at least 2 years in a leading role
•Computer Skills: Competency with Microsoft Office Suite; One Source Tax Software experience preferred
•Travel Requirements: 10% or less
