Oversee the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) to ensure all new and modified parts meet customer and company quality standards. Serve as the central point of contact among Quality, Engineering, Production, Suppliers, and Customers for PPAP documentation and submissions.
The PPAP Coordinator – Quality position is pivotal in ensuring production parts meet quality standards and customer requirements. The role requires detailed documentation expertise, proficiency with PPAP and quality systems, strong analytical abilities, and effective cross-functional and customer communication.
- Prepare, review, and submit PPAP documentation (PFMEA, Control Plans, Dimensional Studies, PSW, product specs, bubble prints, pictures, CPK, MSA).
- Create first-piece inspection folders per control plans, ensuring traceability between supplier and customer PPAP data.
- Submit and track PPAPs and deviations via customer or supplier portals, maintaining an up-to-date PPAP log.
- Monitor PPAP metrics, enter monthly data, and manage openings/closings of PPAP jobs in ERP systems.
- Work with engineering to align prints and work instructions, and review drawing specs for accuracy.
- Process engineering and customer-driven deviations; ensure changes are properly documented.
- Conduct internal audit processes (production, product) and support manufacturing supervisors in resolving quality issues.
- Maintain and analyze SPC documents and Gage R&R studies; verify Cpk performance and assist corrective actions.
- Manage production gauging processes, work instructions, and document control systems in line with ISO/IATF and AIAG requirements.
- Ensure orderly release, sorting, storage, and retrieval of critical documents; support training for end-users.
- Collaborate with customers and sales to gather PPAP requirements, follow up on approvals, and train relevant stakeholders on PPAP protocols.
- Act as liaison with suppliers to ensure their PPAP submissions meet expectations and maintain traceability.
- Participate in team meetings, assist colleagues, meet EH&S guidelines, and perform other assigned duties as needed.
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Quality, Engineering, or related field preferred.
- 2+ years’ experience in quality or manufacturing environments; familiarity with PPAP, APQP, Lean, SPC, ISO/IATF, and AIAG standards.- Proficient with MS Office (Excel, Outlook), ERP systems, SharePoint, and PPAP submission portals.
- Skilled in blueprint reading, GD&T, SPC analysis, and geometric measuring methods; experienced with inspection/calibration tools and equipment.
- Strong organizational, multitasking, problem-solving, and customer-service orientation.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and customers.
- Self-starter who adapts quickly, shows initiative, and follows safety procedures accurately.
- Training or certification in Lean Manufacturing, APQP, AIAG PPAP, SPC, Gage R&R, or internal auditing.
- May need to lift up to 25–50 lbs periodically. Standard weekday schedule; some flexibility may be required.
