- 1) Inspecting dozers, excavators, chippers, trucks, log skidders, and other pieces of heavy equipment for proper performance.
- 2) Diagnosing faults using computerized testing equipment and analyze results
- 3) Hydraulic system testing and repairs.
- 4) Adjust equipment and replace faulty parts.
- 5) Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment, and clean, lubricate and refill the equipment, as necessary.
- 6) Repairing damaged equipment parts at the job sites.
- 7) Cleaning and servicing of machine attachments like winches, blades, and grapples.
- 8) Perform major repair work when necessary.
- 9) Reporting damaged or faulty equipment to management.
- 10) Perform preventative maintenance on heavy equipment including oil changes, tune-ups, and inspections.
- 11) Repair or replace malfunctioning parts and systems, such as brake pads, belts, water pumps, transmissions, and other mechanical parts.
- 12) Performs further tests, which may include test driving the vehicle to ensure repairs are completed correctly.
- 13) Maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles.
- 14) Adhere to an inspection checklist
- 15) Maintain a parts inventory.
- 16) Ability to identify mechanical problems, either visually or with computer diagnostic equipment.
- 17) Perform tests on specific parts and systems to confirm proper mechanical function; ensures that all critical parts are examined.
- 18) Represent the Company in an ethical and proper manner.
- 19) Perform all duties in an independent manner with minimal direction and supervision by consistently showing ability to recognize and deal with priorities.
- 20) Recognize and perform duties which need to be completed although not directly assigned.
- 21) Work well, and maintain cooperative working relationships, with the managers, employees, vendors, suppliers, and customers
- 22) Place, remove, and/or maintain items within a worksite.
- 23) Secure worksite, equipment, & materials at the end of each shift to ensure public safety and safety of equipment and materials.
- 24) Monitor, inspect, and maintain heavy equipment to ensure optimal operation. Identify and address problems or defects.
- 25) Keep worksite clean and organized; free from unnecessary hazards.
- 26) Consistently show ability to recognize and deal with multiple priorities; Demonstrate ability to tactfully handle stressful or difficult situations.
- 27) Maintain a well-groomed, professional appearance appropriate for the position and within policy guidelines.
- 28) Be dependable, report to work on time, and provide proper notification of whereabouts when absence from work is unavoidable.
- 29) Follow all policy and procedures with strict attention to safety, per company standards.
- 30) Perform routine cleaning and maintenance to ensure smooth operation of the equipment.
- 31) Perform all other duties as requested or assigned and as business operations and conditions require.
- Repair trucks and pickups if needed
- 33) Other related duties as required.- 3-5+ years of heavy equipment field mechanic experience required
- Experience with heavy equipment truck maintenance
- Experience with heavy equipment engine repair and diagnostics
- Formal education in Mechanics preferred
- A valid CDL Class B license is required.
