Director, Modeling & Analytics, will provide analytics and insight on internal metrics and external trends across both MPC and MPLX into a consolidated platform. This position will work collaboratively with other functions across the CFO organization to produce routine and ad hoc analyses in support of executive materials. Provides analysis and support to the investor relations team during the quarterly earnings process.
- Key decision maker for the modeling and analytics team in addition to the Finance and IR organization. Accountable for the performance of the modeling and analytics team and is responsible for timely delivery of team analyses, identification of key insights, and dissemination of data across the organization in addition to the ELT.
- Develops and maintains/manages strategic initiatives associated with the Finance& IR group. Key point of contact for other leaders across the organization as well as with investment banking advisors and consultants to develop messaging to executive leadership and the board of directors related to strategic initiatives. Key trusted business partner that identifies associated risks and opportunities to improve operational and financial performance based off peer analysis for commercial, strategy and BP&A organizations.
- Identifies key drivers of company’s intrinsic value and establishes an analytical framework for identifying the impact to the company's total shareholder return.
- Oversees MPC, MPLX and peer financial results in addition to having a keen pulse on analyst research and models. Uses understanding and results of team performance to guide strategic thinking, initiatives, and communication with the ELT. Leads the development and execution of monthly and quarterly team presentations to executive leadership including the CEO, CFO and other executive and nonexecutive VP's. Provides senior level support for various groups related to the earnings process, strategy and ad-hoc projects/requests. Ensures appropriate communication between groups in addition to driving and monitoring overall project/process status.
- Partners/collaborates with other leaders and represents the modeling and analytics team in developing and executing the organization’s short and long-term financial strategies that align with the overall business and enterprise objectives. Understand the needs of the business and communicates those needs to, and directs the activities of, the modeling and analytics team. Also accountable for the budget/forecast associated with the Finance & IR group.
- Provides leadership and direction to direct reports, including supervisors, managers or directors who also have direct reports. Emphasizes coaching to team members on business drivers and analyst research. Also responsible for coaching team members on overall goals and strategic objectives of the company.
- Leads and develops a high performing team. Formulates goals and direction for the team to align with MPC strategic pillars and objectives and monitors performance to accomplish organizational goals. Creates a formal development program to increase the team’s business acumen and analytical skills. Challenges team to continuously improve/enhance process that drive value for the organization while at the same time supporting the company's digital transformation efforts.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, or Accounting required
- Master’s degree (MBA) and/or Advanced degree preferred
- 12+ years of work experience in investor relations, the financial industry (sell-side, buy-side, private equity), accounting, legal, and other related fields. Experience within the oil & gas/energy industry preferred- 2-3 years managing and directing the work of support staff preferred
