This is a 100% TRAVEL throughout the U.S. position (mostly northeast); You will be away from home up to 14 days at a time (home 2 weekends a month) but can work as much as you are willing and able to. Company vehicle, fuel, hotels and per diem are provided. Full wage paid while you are traveling.
You will be responsible for collecting in-field measurements on Solar Racking systems prior to construction and installation of large-scale solar projects. You and another team member will use a tracked skid steer and various hand tools, measurement devices and electronics to complete and document your work
Successful candidates will:
•Have a valid Driver’s License in good standing
•Be able to obtain a DOT Medical Card
•Have reliable transportation: vehicles are provided for work travel but employees must have their own transportation to meet Lead Tester at home base in Archbold, OH
•Be able to travel out-of-state: majority of job sites are located in Maine and New York.
•Enjoy driving: many hours worked are spent driving a pickup and trailer from state to state with another team member.
•Be comfortable working outdoors in all weather; heat, cold, snow and rain.
•Be comfortable driving a super duty truck w/ 22 ft trailer pulling a skid steer
•Be comfortable operating a 10,000 lbs. skid steer (Bobcat T740 or similar)
•Have good time management, be self-reliant and able to work on-site with little to no supervision (sites have not started construction)
•Be organized; documenting your work with video, site photos, electronic data entry, etc.
•Be detail oriented. Tests are to be performed in accordance to the instructions engineering provides
•Have the ability to problem solve and professionally communicate with customers and other APA departments to determine testing needs. Site testing follows a consistent protocol but if test results are not straight forward (test failures, poor soils, etc. then the ability to communicate and work through those issues with the office to successfully complete the project is key
•Be in good physical condition and able to lift upwards of 50 lbs.
•Be flexible. Projects are all over the USA and schedules for testing can change so you must be willing to travel and be flexible with dates.
•A typical work week may be 65+ hours
