Material Handler/Bandsaw Operator – 3rd Shift

Location: Kent, Ohio Job Type: Full-Time (3rd Shift) Compensation: $19 - $22 per hour (based on experience)

Position Summary:

We are seeking a motivated, self-driven Material Handler/Saw Operator to join our 3rd shift team. This is a physically demanding, fast-paced position that requires attention to detail, reliability, and a strong commitment to safety and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities:

- Support operation of industrial equipment including band saws, forklifts, overhead cranes, and hydraulic press equipment.

- Assist with material handling, loading, unloading, and storage of steel materials.

- Perform basic preventive maintenance and report equipment issues or safety concerns.

- Read and follow work instructions, measurements, and specifications accurately.

- Complete basic documentation, inventory records, and production reports.

- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

- Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and lockout/tagout procedures.

- Communicate equipment status, production needs, and safety concerns with supervisors and team members.

- Assist in other warehouse or production areas as needed.

Qualifications:

- 1–2 years of experience in a warehouse, industrial, or manufacturing environment

- High school diploma or GED required.

- Prior experience working in a steel, manufacturing, or warehouse environment preferred.

- Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn industrial equipment operation required.

- Ability to safely operate hand tools and industrial equipment.

- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 55 pounds.

- Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, kneel, climb, and work around moving machinery.

- Ability to work in an industrial environment with exposure to noise, dust, fumes, temperature changes, and humidity.

- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.

- Ability to communicate effectively and complete basic documentation.

- Reliable, punctual, and committed to consistent attendance

- Team-oriented with a positive attitude and willingness to take initiative

- Must live within a commutable distance to Kent, Ohio

Preferred:

- Previous work in a steel service center or similar environment

- Familiarity with handling steel products

- Understanding of warehouse safety protocols, especially for heavy materials

- Experience using inventory management systems

Schedule:

- 3rd Shift (9:00 pm to 5:30 am)

- Overtime available based on business needs
