We specialize in high-quality residential and light commercial solar installations, electrical upgrades, and energy-efficient solutions. We are looking for a skilled Solar Electrician to join our field team and help us deliver clean, code-compliant installs across NYC and Long Island.

Job Description

As a Solar Electrician at The Green Plug, you will be responsible for all electrical aspects of solar PV installations, from rough-in to final inspection. This role requires strong NEC knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

- Perform electrical work for residential and light commercial solar PV systems

- Install and terminate:

- Inverters (string, microinverters, optimizers)

- AC & DC disconnects

- Combiner panels

- Service upgrades and subpanels (when required)

- Run and secure conduit (EMT, PVC, FMC as required)

- Perform main panel tie-ins and backfeeds in compliance with NEC and AHJ requirements

- Label systems per code and utility standards

- Troubleshoot system and electrical issues

- Ensure all work passes AHJ and utility inspections

- Maintain a clean, safe, and professional job site

- Communicate with operations and project management teams regarding job progress

Requirements

- Licensed Electrician preferred (NYC or NYS a plus, but not required for all candidates)

- Minimum 2+ years of solar electrical experience

- Strong knowledge of NEC (Article 690, 705, etc.)

- Experience with NYC & Long Island AHJs is a plus

- Ability to read and execute electrical plans and single-line diagrams

- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 (or willingness to obtain)

- Comfortable working on roofs and ladders
