Position Overview
The Local and Community Affairs Representative (LCAR) will support internal and external communication to various stakeholders during the construction of the Alle-Catt wind farm located in Allegany, Cattaraugus, and Wyoming Counties. The LCAR will be responsible for implementing Invenergy’s engagement strategies to improve the overall experience for the local community and stakeholders. In addition, the position will support the construction team with various administrative tasks. This is a temporary, contract position earning $30 per hour, requiring 40 hours a week, through the project’s construction phase which ends at the commercial operation date (December of 2026). Responsibilities
•Represent the project and/or Invenergy in meetings with county/municipal officials, landowners, and other local and state stakeholders.
•Understand and explain benefits of projects to host community members.
•Be responsive to community concerns throughout the construction process.
•Collaborate with internal and external project stakeholders to communicate project updates leading up to and throughout the construction process. Collect and process feedback to proactively seek solutions when appropriate.
•Attend and represent the project at local meetings, including monitoring relevant activities from local governments.
•Identify, attend, and manage sponsorships of events in the project area.
•Monitor local public sentiment of the project and develop relationships with key individuals to neutralize or mitigate the spread of opposition.
•Organize community and volunteering events to build goodwill for the project.
•Address construction complaints and issues in coordination with the on-and offsite project team.
•Support and help disseminate project newsletter on a regular basis in partnership with other Invenergy departments.
•Internal reporting and progress tracking and maintain database of communication.
•Thoroughly understand and communicate contract terms to landowners and relevant stakeholders as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
•3+ years of relevant experience in agriculture, construction, or development.
•Excellent solution-seeking, organizational, teamwork, leadership and communication skills which extend across numerous internal and external stakeholders.
•Demonstrated ability in leadership of multi-disciplined teams.
•Strong public speaking and personal skills and ability to write effective, concise reports.
•Ability to spend approximately 50% of time traveling within the project area and nearby region.
•Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.
Preferred Qualifications
•Degree in renewables, agribusiness, construction, or community relations/public affairs.
•Agricultural and construction field experience.
