Job Description
Amperesand is disrupting industrial power with the first commercialized Solid State Transformer systems. Solid State Transformer systems are much more than a transformer replacement, enabling numerous advanced features to unlock solutions for data centers, EV charging, renewables, microgrids, and industrial installations. We are looking for mission driven team members passionate about making amazing products for worldwide electrification at maximum acceleration. Amperesand is building a global company and looking for talent across our geographies.
We are seeking a skilled Sr. CNC Machinist to join our team and support advanced manufacturing efforts by machining precision components using both 3-axis and 5-axis Haas CNC machines. This role includes assembly of finished components into manufacturing equipment, supporting engineering teams with manufacturability insights, and ensuring production standards are met across prototyping and small-batch production. The Sr. CNC Machinist is expected to work cross-functionally, troubleshoot technical challenges, and take ownership of high-priority machining objectives.
Responsibilities
•Operate, set up, and troubleshoot 3-axis and 5-axis Haas CNC Mills for product and manufacturing precision parts.
•Program, edit, and optimize G-code for machining of complex parts and components.
•Assemble machined components into finished products and manufacturing systems based on engineering specifications.
•Use precision inspection tools including CMMs, FARO arm, calipers, and micrometers to validate part conformance and perform First Article Inspection (FAI) as required by quality standards.
•Collaborate with NC programmers and design engineers to review manufacturability and design considerations.
•Mentor and support junior machinists and new hires in setup, programming, and machining techniques.
•Document machining processes, write non-conformance tickets, and implement corrective actions.
•Assist with tool selection, fixturing, and setup creation for various jobs and materials.
•Maintain equipment logs and perform preventative maintenance on all machining systems.
•Ensure all tool path programming complies with ISO, OSHA, and other safety standards.
•Support early-stage fusion product development with full lifecycle part production and build support.
•Occasionally operate manual lathe or milling machine.
Qualifications
•High school diploma or GED required; advanced training or certification in CNC machining preferred.
•7+ years of CNC machining experience, including 5+ years on 5-axis Haas machines.
•Experience operating manual mill and lathe.
•Experience with Fusion and Mastercam for CAM programming and toolpath optimization.
•5+ years of experience programming CNC machines using G-code and CAM software.
•Strong understanding of GD&T and ability to interpret complex engineering drawings.
•Experience assembling manufacturing equipment or product systems from machined components.
•Solid knowledge of electrical systems and principles applied to manufacturing environments.
•Capable of forklift and/or scissor lift operation (certification preferred).
•Ability to work day shift from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM CT, with flexibility for overtime or weekends.
•Experience with Gundrill, Mill-Turn, EDM, or large format CNC operations is a plus.
•Strong written and verbal communication skills and a continuous improvement mindset.
Preferred Qualifications:
•Proficiency in 3DEXPERIENCE, CATIA, and SolidWorks for interpreting and working with complex CAD models.
•Expert with Fusion and Mastercam for CAM programming and toolpath optimization.
•Strong foundation in electrical systems and controls relevant to CNC machine operation and assembly processes.
•Proven experience with mechanical assembly of products or manufacturing systems beyond machining responsibilities.
•Demonstrated ability to read and work from electromechanical diagrams or multi-discipline engineering documentation.
•Experience contributing to design for manufacturability (DFM) reviews and feedback loops with engineering teams.
•Experience working in Agile development environments, including task management and sprint planning using Scrum methodologies and tools like Jira.
