Groundwater Partners Inc. (GWP) is seeking an early career Civil Engineer with a focus on Geotechnical Engineering to join our team in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
GWP is a growing, small, woman-owned business focusing on water resources, environmental remediation, geotechnical engineering and earthwork construction services. The preferred candidate will have an educational background in civil engineering, with a geotechnical emphasis, or geological emphasis; excellent interpersonal skills; written and verbal communication skills; and will be a proactive problem solver. This position offers the opportunity to work with, learn from, and be mentored by senior engineering staff while executing the following roles/responsibilities:
- Provide engineering analysis and design and assist in project management delivering projects to GWP’s clients
- Participate in planning and implementation of civil/environmental/geotechnical investigations and design activities
- Develop skills in other related civil engineering sub-disciplines including materials engineering
- Support engineering analyses and deliverables with software applications including engineering and CAD illustration
- Develop skills in project management including scope, budget, schedule, and resource management
- Be key member of project teams, ensuring the technical quality of deliverables
- Participate in writing proposals and reports
- Travel to project sites in southwest US: New Mexico (primarily), Arizona, and potentially California
- B.S. or M.S. in Civil, Environmental or Geotechnical Engineering
- EIT required with plan to acquire PE registration after requisite years of experience are achieved
- Experience in civil/environmental/geotechnical engineering a plus
- Strong academic background and solid understanding of civil, environmental and/or geotechnical engineering
- Ability to understand drilling methods, field investigations and laboratory testing procedures and a willingness to learn these methods/procedures
- Excellent communication, writing, interpersonal and presentation skills
- Appreciation for time management, planning, and ability to interact with clients
- AutoCAD Civil 3D experience is a plus
- Ability and willingness to work in the office and field to support civil/geotechnical/environmental projects across the southwest US
- Must pass a drug test, background check, and have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the GWP’s driving policy
