The role supports the Controller by managing the general ledger, preparing accurate financial statements, and leading key accounting functions including reconciliations, month-end close, consolidations, audits, budgeting, and forecasting. This position also develops financial models, prepares management reports, ensures compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements, and contributes to process improvements and tax-related activities. The individual will handle special projects as assigned while supporting strong internal controls and operational efficiency.
- General Ledger & Reconciliations: Manage and maintain the general ledger, perform detailed account and bank reconciliations, and verify the accuracy of all financial transactions.
- Month-End/Year-End Close: Lead or significantly assist with the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes.
- Audits & Compliance: Coordinate internal and external audits, prepare necessary documentation and schedules for auditors, and ensure all procedures comply with GAAP, federal, state, and local regulations.
- Budgeting and forecasting: Assist the controller and CFO in management and preparation of the annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Financial modeling: Build and maintain financial models to analyze financial and operational results to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Reporting: Prepare and analyze accurate, timely monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Prepare financial reports and dashboards for senior management, providing commentary on performance.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement opportunities to streamline and automate accounting processes and improve internal controls.
- Taxation: Assist with tax preparation and compliance, which may include preparing federal, state, local, and payroll tax returns.
- Perform other duties or special projects as required or assigned.
- A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required; a master's degree is often preferred.
- Minimum of 5-10 years of progressive accounting experience preferably in manufacturing industry.
- Experience in the use of Business Intelligence (BI) and reporting tools (e.g., Jedox, Hyperion, Qlick, Power BI, etc.
- Highly proficient in MS Excel (e.g., formulas, pivot tables, tables, and graph production) and MS PowerPoint.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification is highly preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting software preferably Axis.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work both independently and collaboratively.
