Overview
A Solar Installation Manager plans, executes, and oversees residential/commercial solar projects, leading teams (installers, techs, subs), ensuring safety (OSHA, NEC), managing budgets/schedules, handling site assessments, coordinating inspections, and guaranteeing quality installation of PV systems, bridging technical expertise with project management for clean energy deployment.
- Project Planning & Coordination: Develop project proposals, budgets, schedules; plan site layouts; coordinate with clients, engineers, inspectors.
- Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and mentor field crews (electricians, installers, subs).
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce safety standards (OSHA, NEC), ensure regulatory compliance, conduct site safety checks.
- Technical Oversight: Provide technical guidance, troubleshoot issues, ensure system design adherence, perform system start-up/testing.
- Quality Control: Conduct site visits, monitor work, ensure quality standards, and drive continuous improvement.
- Resource Management: Estimate materials, equipment, and personnel; manage on-site facilities.
- Customer/Stakeholder Liaison: Communicate project status, resolve discrepancies, manage client expectations.
- Technical: Solar PV systems, electrical/mechanical systems, building codes, electrical schematics, system performance assessment.
- Project Management: Budgeting, scheduling, resource allocation, risk minimization, time management.
- Leadership: Personnel management, coordination, communication, problem-solving.
- Industry: Understanding of renewable energy, sustainability goals, green building practices.
- ; preferred: vocational training, trade school, or Associate's degree.
- Experience in solar installation, construction, or electrical trades.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., NABCEP) often beneficial.
- Mix of indoor (office, planning) and outdoor (field, rooftops) work.
- May involve working at heights, in various weather conditions, and with electrical hazards.
