Description
The Safety Supervisor is responsible for ensuring a safe and secure work environment that is compliant with the Public Employees Occupational Safety & Health ("PEOSH") program, the Occupational Safety & Health Administration's ("OSHA") laws and regulations, and wastewater treatment industry standards.
Minimum Requirements
Must possess a valid New Jersey driver’s license. Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position. Must be able to carry out oral and written directions. Must be able to analyze information and make sound decisions and assignments based on that analytical process. Must be able to supervise others and be accountable for all actions and personnel.
Experience:
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the Safety profession specific to the Water and Wastewater industry. Three (3) to five (5) years of supervisory experience in the Safety field specific to the Water and Wastewater industry is preferred.
Education:
High School Diploma, Vocational School Diploma, or an approved high school equivalent certificate. Bachelor’s Degree in Safety/Industrial Protocol field preferred.
License and/or Certifications:
Must possess both the 30 Hour OSHA General Industry Certificate and the 30 Hour OSHA Construction Certificate, as well as OSHA Outreach & Training certification. Board of Certified Safety Professionals licenses & certifications are preferred as are Rutgers Center for Public Health Workforce Development certifications. Annual CPR/AED certifications are required.

Physical Demands:
Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without a reasonable accommodation to ensure the health and safety of oneself and others is maintained. To perform the essential functions of this position the employee must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of the arms, legs and the whole body such as climbing (including ladders), lifting up to 50 lbs., balancing, walking, stooping and handling heavy objects. Must qualify for and possess the ability to perform entry into confined spaces while wearing proper Personal Protective Equipment ("PPE") such as, but not limited to, canister and dust masks, as well as Self Contained Breathing Apparatus ("SCBA"), in compliance with PVSC’s Facial Hair Grooming Policy.
Working Conditions:
Workers are employed in conditions associated with a wastewater treatment plant and sewer collection system and may be required to work indoors and outdoors depending upon the nature of the position and may be exposed to inclement weather.

The expected base pay range for this position is $100,918 to $161,478. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s relevant experience, qualifications, education, training, and formal credentials.
