OSP Make Ready Engineerswith proven
AutoCAD,
GISor similar tools experience to join our team. As an OSP Make Ready Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the outside plant network infrastructure for fiber optic networks. This includes planning and designing fiber optic networks, conducting surveys of existing infrastructure, coordinating with internal teams and external contractors, testing and troubleshooting network issues, and maintaining accurate records of network infrastructure and equipment inspect and evaluate sites for telecommunication infrastructure installation, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze existing utility poles to determine suitability for additional telecommunications equipment, including weight load calculations;
- Develop engineering designs and plans to address necessary modifications to existing utility infrastructure to accommodate new telecommunications equipment;
- Manage field surveys to assess current site conditions, identify required adjustments, and ensure the accuracy of design plans;
- Ensure all work adheres to industry safety regulations and standards, including OSHA, NESC, and local compliance guidelines;
- Monitor and manage project timelines to ensure make ready tasks are completed on schedule to meet installation deadlines;
- Work closely with construction teams to ensure make ready designs are implemented correctly and modifications are properly executed;
- Review and approve as-built documentation, ensuring accuracy and adherence to initial design specifications after the completion of make ready work;
- Conduct QA/QC on various inputs throughout the design process.
- Minimum 2 years’ work-related experience related to utility assets;
- Strong knowledge of applying
NESC
standards;
- Experience related to overhead communication attachments to distribution poles (make ready);
- Experience with IKE Office, Katapult or similar, including adding annotations and using to design for make ready;
- Experience with Pole Foreman, O-Calc;
- Understand and demonstrate concepts related to Joint Use of Plant (make ready);
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Access and Word;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to speak clearly and confidently to stakeholders.
