This role will be responsible for trading and optimizing around key assets in the Midcon Region. The Asset Optimizer will be active in cash, index, and forward natural gas markets to generate income. As a member of the West Natural Gas Trading Team, you will be responsible for the following:
Generating trading and optimization income through acquisition of transportation and storage assets.
Delivering material contributions to P&L Targets through day activity; pipeline outreach; and short to midterm asset origination opportunities.
Working alongside Marketing and Origination teammates to generate customer opportunities on both the production and consumer side of the gas market
In this role, you will develop and execute the regional strategy for asset and customer acquisition. Additionally, you will be expected to manage forward exposure of a large book and strategically hedge and optimize the forward position. You will work closely with our Analytics team to build and improve our supply/demand models for the Midcon region. The Asset Optimization Midcon team is a team of traders that manage the US Midcon physical natural gas business in Omaha, Nebraska. Working closely with Marketing and Origination, Transportation and Operation teams and other Trading, Marketing and Analytics teams in Houston and Calgary this team operates on the majority of the pipelines and storage locations in the Midcon and serves hundreds of customers. This is an experienced and entrepreneurial group that creates sustainable value by understanding the Natural Gas infrastructure, structures trading strategies and provides solutions for customers.
Direct experience managing a large physical trading book
Minimum 5 Years of physical gas trading experience in either the Midcon, Midwest, or West Regions
Solid understanding of trading physical and financial natural gas instruments
Strong relationships with pipelines and customer in the Midcon Region
