Job Summary
The CDL Class A Driver is responsible for safely transporting heavy equipment and cargo while ensuring compliance with all Federal, State, and local regulations. This position requires strong attention to detail, stamina, and a commitment to safety. Drivers must maintain all equipment, complete thorough inspections, and report any mechanical issues to the Transportation Supervisor. Travel is required.
Primary Job Functions
- Ensure the truck is loaded properly and secured in accordance with Federal, State, and local DOT requirements.
- Verify shipment weight and ensure compliance with allowable load limits.
- Perform routine vehicle maintenance, security checks, and maintain cleanliness of the truck.
- Ensure the truck has current inspections, registration, and all legally required documentation.
- Maintain full compliance with all D.O.T. regulations.
- Keep all paperwork accurate, organized, and ensure all transactions are properly documented.
- Deliver all loads safely and on time while maintaining professional driving practices.
- Represent Strike in a professional and respectful manner during deliveries and pickups.
- Load and unload equipment as required.
- Assist in yard operations as assigned by the supervisor.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 lbs (12 kg); frequently up to 50 lbs (23 kg); and occasionally up to 100 lbs (45 kg).
- Must have adequate vision including close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus (20/20 or 20/40 with corrective lenses).
- Must not be colorblind.
- Must be able to stand, walk, sit, talk, and hear regularly.
- Must possess good reflexes, hearing, and physical ability to safely operate a trucking rig.
- Must be in good overall health. Any required medications must be non-narcotic in nature.
- Must have strong hand-eye coordination for safe vehicle operation.
- Minimum 3 years of verifiable Class A CDL driving experience, preferably in heavy haul operations.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
- Current DOT medical card.
- Additional driving or safety certifications preferred.
- Must maintain a clean, safe driving record.
- Ability and willingness to travel as needed.
- Must comply with all Strike policies and procedures.
- Must comply with Strike’s Drug & Alcohol Policy and maintain favorable testing results.
- Must perform all duties safely with respect for people, property, and personal safety.
- Must work effectively with others and demonstrate strong teamwork and productivity.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
