Propane technicians are responsible for the safe installation, maintenance, and repair of propane systems and appliances. Their job description typically includes the following responsibilities:
- Installation and Repair: Install and repair propane tanks, regulators, piping systems, and appliances. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards.
- Inspection and Testing: Perform routine inspections, leak tests, and preventive maintenance on propane systems. Measure and test the pressure of propane tanks to ensure they are working properly.
- Customer Education: Educate customers on the proper operation, maintenance, and safety of propane systems and appliances. Provide guidance on detecting leaks, handling emergencies, and maintaining the longevity of the system.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate service records, documentation, and compliance reports. Ensure all work complies with applicable safety standards, codes, and company policies.
- Emergency Response: Respond to after-hours emergency service calls, as needed. Operate service vehicles and equipment in a safe and professional manner.
Propane technicians should have a high school diploma or equivalent, previous propane training, and experience working with propane. They should also possess strong problem-solving and mechanical skills, as well as excellent communication and customer service skills.
CDL Class A/B, Tanker, HazMat not required but preferred
