Melt Operators ensure safe and effective completion of daily production requirements. Principal Duties and Responsibilities include tapping furnaces as directed by the supervisor, setting up and operating the furnace for melting, loading and unloading materials, cleaning furnace and equipment, counting, weighing and recording number of units of materials moved on daily production sheet, removing samples of materials for laboratory analysis, operating industrial truck or electrical hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and product, skimming sows and ingots to ensure products meet quality standards, stacking, banding and prepping product for shipping, diagnostics, troubleshooting and repair of furnaces, maintaining work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition ensuring strict adherence to 5S standards, completing necessary paperwork such as attendance reporting and maintenance work orders, complying with QMS procedures, following Quality Policy and ISO/TS system, maintaining a clean and safe work environment, following OSHA safety rules and policies including wearing PPE, and performing other duties as assigned. Position requires positive attitude, good interpersonal skills, willingness to embrace new technology and change, application of 5S methodology, good written and verbal communication skills, good math and mechanical skills, and good attendance record. Physical demands include lifting up to 50lbs repeatedly, standing, bending, twisting for 8 hours, ascending/descending stairs, sitting, walking, climbing, stooping and kneeling. Qualifications include High School/GED or equivalent, ability to move between machines, knowledge of molds and casting process theory, mechanical ability, basic math skills, interpersonal and communication skills, and problem solving ability.
