The Engineering Technician position involves the assembly, integration, and testing of custom automation machinery, both new and rebuilt machines. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in electrical wiring, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and light machining. You will work closely with engineers and designers to bring innovative automation solutions to life.
- Machine Assembly: Build and assemble custom automation machines from mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
- Electrical Work: Install and wire control panels, sensors, motors, and other electrical components from schematic prints.
- Hydraulic & Pneumatic Systems: Install and troubleshoot hydraulic and pneumatic actuators, valves, and tubing from schematic prints.
- Machining: Perform light machining tasks such as drilling, tapping, grinding, and fitting components to precise tolerances.
- Testing & Debugging: Conduct functional testing of machines, identify issues, and assist in debugging and final adjustments.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of builds, modifications, and troubleshooting steps.
- Safety & Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and ensure machines meet applicable standards and regulations.
- Minimum 3–5 years in machine building or industrial automation.
- Technical diploma or associate degree in Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance, or related field preferred but not required.
- Experience with Bridgeport, lathe, and manual machining equipment.
- Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Familiarity with PLC programming or troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with CAD software or machine design tools.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, and mechanical and electrical schematics.
- Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems (AC/DC, PLC wiring, sensors).
- Hands-on experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Basic machining skills using hand tools, drill presses, grinders, etc.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Familiar with Microsoft Office and manufacturing software (e.g., ERP, MES).
- Familiar with Solidworks or Draftsite CAD software.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
