The Doe Run Company is seeking an Instrumentation Technician to support operations by ensuring all instrumentation is functional and calibrated properly while safely maintaining production goals. This day shift position is located at Brushy Creek Surface in Boss, Mo.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Associate’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Technical Degree in Electronics or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 1 year of experience with process control instrumentation, electrical, and industrial electronics.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.) and Drafting (AutoCAD).
- Proficient knowledge of AC, DC, and mA circuits, measurement test equipment, reading wire diagrams, and schematics.
- Proficient knowledge of Occupational hazards and standard safety practices.
- Proficient understanding of PLC programming and variable frequency drives (VFDs).
- Basic knowledge of ladder logic or function block preferred.
- Troubleshoot, repair, maintain and conduct periodic calibration of instruments on a wide range of equipment such as analyzers, PLC and process control equipment, communications network, environmental emission, and data logging equipment for environmental compliance, operating cameras, and field monitoring equipment.
- Rebuild equipment, including requisition and order parts, tear down, and rebuild existing equipment, as needed.
- Install, program, and calibrate new equipment. Evaluate the latest technologies for feasibility and efficiency.
- Serve as a project manager, which includes a detailed scope of work, provide specifications, plan, coordinate, budget, and hire outside contractors if necessary. Send materials list out for bid and keep costs in line with budget.
- Train operational staff on the proper use of equipment.
- Create drawings and documents for future reference. Maintain records of maintenance projects.
- Participate in the development, implementation, and sustainability of the instrument tech preventative maintenance program.
- Complete tasks in a safe and environmentally compliant manner by following EHS (environmental, health and safety) policies, procedures and best practices; support and assist peers in working in a safe, compliant manner; report unsafe acts or conditions, incidents, and deviations; and provide feedback to support continuous improvement in EHS performance.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Regularly required to work near moving mechanical parts. Regularly required to wear a respirator (BRRD); Occasionally required to work underground (SEMO), exposed to outdoor weather conditions and wet, humid (non-weather) conditions. Occasionally exposed to vibration, required to wear personal protective equipment, including but not limited to, fall protection, a respirator (SEMO), hearing protection, footwear, and eyewear. Rarely required to work at heights of 4 or more feet with fall protection, work in confined spaces, exposed to extreme cold (non-weather), or extreme heat (non-weather). May be exposed to moderate noise levels.
- Frequently required to sit, talk, hear, feel the attributes of objects, grasp, push, stand, walk, stoop kneel, crouch, crawl, use repetitive motion and reach with hands/arms. Occasionally required to climb or balance. Requires precise hand-eye coordination, clarity of vision, ability to distinguish color, and three-dimensional vision. Requires concentrated attention.
- Frequently required to lift up to 15 pounds. Occasionally required to lift 16-50 pounds. Rarely required to lift 51-100 pounds.
