Data Metalcraft is hiring a Paint and Package Quality Inspector. Data Metalcraft is a manufacturer of formed sheet metal and welded cabinets used in fiber communications, power grids, and industrial products. Our products utilize a broad range of materials, including aluminum, stainless steel, and mild steel.
The Paint and Package Quality Inspector is responsible for inspecting finished parts and assemblies to ensure paint finish quality and packaging meet customer specifications and internal standards. This role helps ensure that products are delivered in compliance with quality requirements, free of defects, and properly packaged for shipment.
- Write Work Instructions and help to establish quality standards for paint department.
- Maintain control charts and record data on wash and pretreatment baths to standard.
- Check parts for cleanliness following auto wash operation.
- Inspect every run of painted parts for defects such as runs, sags, orange peel, blisters, improper coverage, or color mismatch. Document results and store electronically.
- Verify that painted surfaces meet thickness, adhesion, and finish standards using appropriate gauges and tools. Document results and store electronically.
- Confirm that packaging complies with customer specifications and internal guidelines for protection, labeling, and presentation.
- Document inspection results accurately in the quality system and generate non-conformance reports when required.
- Communicate defects and non-conformances promptly to supervisors, production, and engineering teams.
- Work closely with production, shipping, and quality teams to ensure timely resolution of issues.
- Assist in root cause analysis and corrective action for paint and packaging quality problems.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to paint, coating, and packaging processes.
- Maintain inspection equipment and ensure it is calibrated and in good working order.
- Follow all safety, environmental, and quality policies and procedures.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 1+ years of experience in quality inspection, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial paint environment.- Familiarity with industrial paint processes (powder coating, liquid paint) is preferred.
- Experience inspecting packaging for industrial or commercial goods is a plus.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills to ensure consistent product quality.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment while adhering to strict safety protocols.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes related to paint application and packaging is a plus but not required.
