We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented EHS Coordinator to support our EHS Manager by assisting in the implementation and upkeep of our programs. As our EHS Coordinator, you will play a key role in the company's compliance efforts. You will work under the guidance of the EHS Manager, implementing established programs, assisting with daily tasks, and ensuring prompt documentation. You will be critical in managing hazards related to molten metal, high heat processes, noise, silica, and heavy equipment, helping make our facility safer, healthier, and more sustainable.
Key Responsibilities
- Compliance Assistance: Support the EHS Manager in monitoring, interpreting, and ensuring basic compliance with all local, state, and federal EHS regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA), with a focused approach on foundry-specific standards (e.g., silica exposure, air permitting, noise control).
- Safety Inspections & Follow-up: Perform regular facility inspections and targeted safety audits. Record hazards identified, monitor corrective action plans, and follow up with departmental leaders to ensure they are completed.
- Environmental Support: Assist the EHS Manager in managing the proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous waste and materials, including sand, slag, and spent abrasives. Help keep records related to air quality and environmental permits.
- Incident Response: Participate in incident and near-miss investigations by gathering information, documenting findings, and assisting the EHS Manager in implementing corrective actions.
- Culture & Training Execution: Assist in delivering established EHS training programs and toolbox talks across the floor, ensuring workforce understanding and engagement.
- Data & Documentation: Compile and keep precise safety and environmental reports, logs, and necessary regulatory documents. Help track essential EHS metrics (incidents, observations, inspections).
- Operational Excellence: Promote and support good housekeeping and 5S principles to keep an organized, efficient, and safer workplace.
- Program Implementation: Carry out EHS tasks and initiatives assigned by the EHS Manager, making sure they align with overall program goals.
- Experience: 2–4 years of proven hands-on experience in a dedicated EHS role. Experience in a foundry, heavy manufacturing, or metal casting environment is a plus.
- Guidance: Works primarily under general supervision, escalating complex EHS issues and major regulatory decisions to the EHS Manager.
- Knowledge: Solid working knowledge of core safety and environmental concepts, regulations, and reporting requirements, with specific familiarity with heavy industrial safety protocols.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Management, Engineering, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., CSP, OSHA 30/40-hour) are a strong plus but not required.
- Communication: Effective written and verbal communication skills; the ability to relay instructions clearly and document thoroughly.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail in documentation, data tracking, and conducting site observations.
- Dependable Follow-Through: Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage assignments efficiently to ensure all tasks are completed accurately and on time.
- Team Support: A collaborative spirit focused on supporting the EHS Manager and providing guidance/support to other employees when needed.
