The primary purpose of the Vacuum Truck Driver is to drive a vacuum truck to transport and dispose of liquid industrial by-products. This is a full-time, non-exempt position.
Transporting industrial by-products and waste from point of pickup to point of disposal in a safe and efficient manner while following all safety protocols.
Maintain logs of working hours, vehicles service and repair status, following state and federal regulations.
Handle exposure to dust, fumes, high and low temperatures, slippery surfaces, low-lit work areas, confined spaces, heavy traffic and high noise levels.
Ability to drive in hazardous conditions, including inclement weather, tight quarters, and inner-city locations.
Work with dispatch to calculate out the most efficient and effective route.
Inform dispatch and safety of any DOT fines, citations or any other relevant issues.
Communication with Dispatch in regard to any potential customer issues such as complaints, spills, leaks, incidents, accidents, injuries and vehicle issues.
Communicate with maintenance in regard to any vehicle issues or needs and report any issues immediately.
Keep you truck clean and orderly at all times.
Maneuver trucks into loading and unloading positions, checking that vehicle position is correct and any special loading equipment is properly positioned.
Responsible for general maintenance of truck, including but not limited to checking oil and fuel levels.
Complete all pre-trip requirements before each truck run and post-trip requirement at the end of shift.
Able to push 146 pounds, pull 146 pounds, lift 50 pounds, climb ladder with 3 rungs regularly throughout shift.
Able to operate Smart Logix computer system or similar. Knowledge of general mathematics and language.
Ability to drive in hazardous conditions, including inclement weather, tight quarters, and inner-city locations.
Ability to effectively perform responsibilities under a high level of stress.
Regular and reliable attendance and presence at work.
Good interpersonal skills. Demonstrate professionalism; be courteous and friendly to customers and co-workers at all times.
Follow company quality, safety and environmental guidelines as well as employee handbook policies.
Operate in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
Valid CDL class B license with a Hazmat and Tanker endorsement.
3+ years truck driving experience and 1+ experience operating equipment - preferred.
Pass pre-employment DOT physical, drug screen, Clearinghouse verification, and 7-year criminal background check.
