Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of heavy machinery and equipment including dozers, excavators, rock trucks, loaders, etc. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. The Heavy Equipment Mechanic will be responsible for ensuring that all equipment operates efficiently and safely.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical issues in heavy equipment including excavators, cranes, and farm machinery.
- Perform routine maintenance on industrial equipment, including oil changes, filter replacements, and hydraulic system checks.
- Utilize schematics to troubleshoot electrical systems and perform necessary repairs.
- Conduct inspections on vehicles and equipment to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Operate heavy machinery as needed for testing and repairs.
- Collaborate with service technicians to ensure timely completion of repairs and maintenance tasks.
- Maintain accurate records of service performed, parts used, and time spent on repairs.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding their equipment needs.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment safely and effectively.
- Previous mechanic experience in a dealership or service environment is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engine repair, automotive diagnostics, and vehicle maintenance practices.
- Familiarity with heavy equipment operation including but not limited to Caterpillar machinery, forklifts, tractor-trailers, and HVAC systems.
- Experience with fabrication, assembly, brake repair, alignment, hydraulics, suspension systems, tire service, and soldering is highly desirable.
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely as required by the job duties.
