Job Summary:
The Fiber Field Supervisor is responsible for the daily oversight of fiber installation and maintenance activities. This role ensures that all work, whether completed by internal crews or external contractors, meets quality standards, follows safety regulations, and aligns with project timelines. The Fiber Field Supervisor also provides technical guidance on OTDR testing, splicing, troubleshooting, and network integration while supporting continuous improvement in field operations
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•Supervise and coordinate the work of internal fiber technicians and field crews.
•Monitor and evaluate the performance and quality of work done by contractors and subcontractors.
•Ensure all fiber installation and splicing meets company standards and industry best practices.
•Perform or oversee OTDR testing, fiber characterization, and troubleshoot as necessary.
•Maintain accurate project documentation, including as-built records, fiber test results, and daily field reports.
•Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to ensure project goals and deadlines are met.
•Conduct regular site visits to inspect job progress, safety compliance, and workmanship.
•Provide technical training and guidance to field staff as needed.
•Assist with the management of materials and inventory for field operations.
•Assist with customer escalations and complex fiber issues in the field.
•Enforce company safety policies and participate in safety meetings and audits.
•Support emergency restoration efforts, including after-hours work when required.
•Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
•High school diploma or GED required, Associate’s or Technical degree in Telecommunications or related field preferred.
•5+ years of experience in fiber installation, splicing, and testing.
•Prior supervisory or leadership experience strongly preferred.
•Strong knowledge of OTDR testing, fusion splicing, fiber troubleshooting, and industry standards (e.g., TIA/EIA).
•Ability to read construction drawings, fiber schematics, and splicing documentation.
•Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
•Valid driver’s license required.
Working Environment and Physical Requirements:
•Work is primarily performed outdoors with regular exposure to varying weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, wind, rain, and snow.
•Exposure to construction sites, uneven terrain, roadways, and utility infrastructure is common.
•May be exposed to hazards such as electricity, fiber optic lasers, dust, chemicals, and loud noise levels.
•Required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety glasses, hard hats, and high-visibility clothing.
•Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, climb, kneel, and crouch.
•Must be able to lift, carry, and move equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
•Requires manual dexterity and visual acuity for working with small fiber components and testing equipment.
•Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and possess a valid driver's license; occasional travel throughout the cooperative’s service territory is required.
•Extended hours, night or weekend work, and emergency response may be required.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $72,000.00 per year
