Primary Purpose
Join a forward-thinking team at the
cutting edge of electric substation design, where you'll help shape the future of HV and CV infrastructure using next-generation tools like
Autodesk Inventorand 3D modeling. As a
Substation Designer, you'll be responsible for the design and development of electric substations, transmission systems, and outdoor lighting infrastructure—ranging from new builds to relocations and upgrades.
You’ll review construction plans, perform engineering calculations, coordinate with internal teams and external agencies, and ensure all permitting, right-of-way, and construction documentation is complete. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and is excited to help lead the transition from traditional CAD to immersive 3D workflows. Determines specifications, materials, costs, customer charges, permitting, and right of way requirements and develops the necessary documentation and work management system input to meet all prerequisites for construction. Executes contracts and performs field visits when appropriate. Negotiates scheduling commitments, permits, and permissions with customers and government agencies. Coordinates job planning with field construction personnel for jobs designed; approves minor field changes; and coordinates and obtains necessary approvals for major changes. Performs field location survey work and plots above, below, and proposed facilities to show their relationship.
Job duties may be
electric transmission only,
electric substation only, electric distribution only, gas only, outdoor lighting only or combination gas, electric, and outdoor lighting. Work assignments and prerequisite skills depend upon the specific unit in which this position resides. Subject to overtime.
This position is subject to storm duty and requires availability for overtime to support critical infrastructure restoration and emergency response. Primary Duties NA Job Scope NA Minimum Qualifications
