We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Skilled Labourer who will be responsible for supporting various day-to-day machine maintenance and other projects as they arise. The successful candidate will be required to help maintain all industrial equipment to the required standards and be responsive to production needs and equipment failures. This position is suited for individuals with existing maintenance skills but who are looking to grow their experience.
This role requires someone with a strong work ethic, physical stamina, displays a high level of accuracy and is safety conscious. The successful candidate should be able to troubleshoot and perform repairs with little to no supervision but still value teamwork. Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions in an elevated and/or restricted space.
- Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect irregularities and malfunctions
- Identify and correct any problems found in machines, equipment, or processes in order to facilitate production
- Adjust machinery and repair/replace defective parts
- Operate tools to fabricate parts required during overhaul, maintenance or set-up of machines
- Ensure operating safety devices function properly on completion of repairs, modifications and installations
- Assemble all machinery and equipment by bolting, welding, riveting, or fastening them to pre-built foundations
- Adhere to assembly and installation instructions set forth in vendor manuals and specifications
- Perform site preparation, cleanup and debris removal as required
- Other duties as assigned by the manager
- At least 2 years direct experience as a skilled labourer working in machine maintenance
- We will consider candidates with a level 1 or 2 Millwright Apprenticeship
- Experience in welding (stick/MIG/TIG) is considered an asset
- In-depth knowledge of industrial/construction equipment and machinery
- Working knowledge of safety standards of equipment
- Demonstrated good verbal and written English communication abilities
- Manual dexterity is required to use power and hand tools
- Must be able to lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to move around in elevated and restricted spaces
- Strong attention to detail and demonstrated analytical ability
- Able to work professionally, respectfully with a positive attitude and integrity
- Strong work ethic and ability to complete work in a timely manner
- Must be able to work with little supervision; must be self-directed
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Work location: 550 Messier St., Winnipeg
- Working hours: Monday thru Friday, 5:30 pm – 9:30 pm with the occasional start time of 4:30pm as needed
- Own tools/equipment required: Steel-toed safety boots
