The Environmental Technician is responsible for collecting in situ and compliance monitoring data, processing a variety of air, water, and soil samples, and supporting environmental monitoring programs to ensure compliance with federal and provincial regulations, Alamos Gold's corporate conditions, and Indigenous Nation agreements. You will be based in Lynn Lake, Manitoba, and will work a 15/13 rotation schedule. Travel from your home to the site, and room and board will be provided at the Company's expense.
- Collect and process air, water, soil etc. samples for compliance monitoring
- Ship collected samples to offsite analytical laboratories, ensuring proper packaging and temperature control
- Collect data from and program various data loggers
- Perform light maintenance on sampling pumps, generators, and equipment
- Operate field equipment for sample collection (e.g., pumps, controllers, pH meters, GPS equipment)
- Follow quality control and quality assurance protocols to monitoring programs
- Maintain, repair, and calibrate monitoring and sample collection equipment
- Carry out environmental data entry, review, and management
- Participate in field investigations and inspections
- Assist in analysing field and analytical data to draft technical reports and communications
- Respond to environmental incidents
- Maintain equipment, including ATVs, snowmobiles, and boats
- Support information gathering for regulatory reports and contribute to reclamation and closure processes
- Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies or Technical Environmental Diploma preferred
- 2-5 years of environmental and mining-related experien
- Experience in environmental compliance monitoring in the mining industry.
- Knowledge of relevant environmental regulations, standards, and industry practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data management software.
- Experience with digital field data entry systems
- Proficiency in navigational skills using maps, compasses, and GPS
- Driver’s license required
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Willingness to travel and work in outdoor, remote locations
- Ability to work outdoors in inclement conditions
