The Residential Field Service Apprentice plays an integral role in maintaining clean energy systems across ReVision Energy territories. This position includes, but is not limited to, diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing our residential electrical installations (solar electric, battery storage, EV charging stations). Service Apprentices, with guidance from their Lead Service Electrician, will complete preventative and corrective maintenance. Responsibilities consist of maintenance and inspection, module removal and replacement, inverter and module-level power electronics replacement, diagnosis, troubleshooting and repairs. Individuals in this position are also required to participate in a Massachusetts Electrical Board approved electrical education program with coursework outside of ReVision working hours, that qualifies apprentices to test for a Journeyperson Electrical license. Per the Massachusetts’s Electrical Board requirements, apprentices must complete a total of 600 hours of board approved classroom instruction and 8,000 hours of supervised electrical experience.
Primary Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
- Maintain participation and remain in good standing in chosen electrical education program and provide timely updates of transcripts and work hours in ApprentiScope.
- Respond to electrical service calls including photovoltaic, battery storage, and electric vehicle chargers
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, communicate with tech support, and make repairs
- Provide support to fellow team members, communicating clearly and effectively
- Communicate with customers regarding service issues and path to resolution
- Update internal service records in CRM, including photo documentation and information
- Gather all information needed to apply for warranty claims
- Must possess and maintain a clean and valid driver’s license
- 1 -2 years of solar installation experience
- Demonstrated commitment to balance job tasks and external education commitments during the academic year.
- Comfortably able to lift 50lbs, climb ladders, work with tools, work in crawl spaces, and work on high roof tops in varying hot and cold temperatures
- Safety conscious – must be comfortable enforcing safety rules with everyone, including supervisors, customers, and co-workers
- Must have a clean and valid driver’s record
- Must have excellent customer service skills in every interaction.
- Must be able to comfortably lift 40 lbs, climb ladders, work on roofs and in crawl spaces in varying hot and cold temperatures.
- Familiarity with hand tools and basic construction techniques.
- Teamwork – able to establish collaborative working relationships with peers and supervisors.
- Basic computer competence including Excel, Word and other commonly used software, including internet and email.
- Code of Conduct – act accordingly as a guest at our customer’s home.
- Strong desire to work for a renewable energy company, and interest in developing professionally.
- Safety conscious – must be comfortable enforcing safety rules with everyone, including supervisors, customers, and co-workers
