A Field Safety Specialist conducts job site safety, health, and environmental quality audits to ensure compliance. This position also manages corrective actions when at-risk actions are identified and assists with root cause initiatives.
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Inspect job site activities to ensure safety compliance.
- Manage on-site corrective actions.
- Share findings with supervisors for the purpose of necessary follow-up.
- Intervene at-risk activities.
- Provide on-site review and training as necessary.
- Provide consultation as necessary.
- Assist with incident reporting and Individual Assistance process, collecting and verifying incident reports.
- Assist with root cause initiatives.
- Participate in industry conferences, programs, initiatives, etc.
- Provide safety training on company procedures and regulatory compliance
- Actively participate in self-development and growth
- Strong knowledge of OSHA standards, regulations, and construction site safety procedure.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify potential risks.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively and efficiently within a diverse team.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, environmental safety, or related field
- 2+ years of experience in construction safety or related field- Certification in safety management (e.g., OSHA 30 Construction, CSP, CHST) is a plus
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety management software (Safety Culture)
- Able and willing to work long hours including day, night, and weekend shifts as needed, and work outside of normal hours.
- Able to stand for long periods of time
- Able to talk and listen.
- Able to walk, lift, reach, stoop, stand, grasp, balance, climb, kneel, crouch, and lift up to 50 pounds frequently.
- Able to climb a minimum of 5 rungs of an extension ladder.
