Job Description: The HVAC Engineer is responsible for ensuring the stable, efficient, and compliant operation of all facility HVAC and environmental control systems within the energy storage manufacturing environment. This includes supporting cleanroom areas for cell production, maintaining temperature/humidity stability for module/pack lines, and ensuring environmental conditions that meet process, safety, and quality requirements.
o Oversee and maintain HVAC systems including MAU, AHU, RAU, chillers, cooling towers, boilers, scrubbers, dehumidification units, and exhaust systems.
o Maintain cleanroom temperature/humidity/pressure conditions for cell manufacturing areas.
o Monitor environmental stability for module and ESS pack assembly lines.
o Ensure air filtration systems (HEPA/ULPA) meet production requirements.
o Implement maintenance programs to ensure continuous HVAC performance and minimize downtime.
o Troubleshoot system failures affecting cell production, material storage, or equipment operation.
o Support ISO/Class environmental compliance for electrode production, cell assembly, and formation areas.
o Adjust HVAC operations to meet process changes, new equipment loads, or safety requirements.
o Analyze HVAC energy use and identify efficiency improvements.
o Participate in optimization projects to reduce energy consumption in temperature-controlled areas.
o Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, ASHRAE, NFPA, and local regulations.
o Support indoor air quality monitoring, ventilation safety, and chemical exhaust requirements.
o Maintain HVAC logs, inspection records, deviation reports, and parameter control documents.
o Prepare reports on HVAC stability, deviations, and corrective actions.
o Ensure documentation is up-to-date and compliant with regulatory requirements.
o Oversee HVAC vendors during installation, commissioning, and maintenance.
o Work closely with facility staff, management, and other departments to address facility needs and support operational goals.
o Provide training and support to staff on facility-related procedures and safety practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in Facility Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- 1-2 years of experience in facility management, building systems maintenance, or a similar role. (battery or semiconductor a plus).
- Knowledge of cleanroom environmental control, filtration systems, and stability management.
- Familiarity with safety regulations. local laws and regulations as well as industry standards.
- Strong knowledge of building systems, HVAC, and mechanical systems.
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and project management skills.
- Proficiency in facility management software and tools.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Certification in facility management (e.g., Certified Facility Manager (CFM), Facility Management Professional (FMP)).
- Experience with energy management and sustainability practices.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements specific to the industry or facility type.
- Ability to adapt to changing technologies and industry trends.
- Willingness to continuously learn and update skills.
- Standard office environment with frequent visits to facility areas and production environments.
- May require occasional travel to other facilities or vendor locations.
- May involve working outside of regular hours to address facility issues or oversee projects.
- May be required to work in a rotating shift depending on operational needs.
