The
Fleet Mechanicperforms maintenance, diagnosis, and repairs fleet vehicles in a safe, efficient, quality minded and customer focused manner to maintain the safety and reliability of the unit. It is the responsibility of the Mechanic to report all accidents to the Fleet Manager immediately and to make the Fleet Manager aware of any known potential safety hazards that may exist. Safety should be the number one priority of any Mechanic and ensure the safety of his fellow co-workers by following all safety guidelines. The position reports to the Fleet Manager and may require travel from time-to-time.
Roles And Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance inspections and repairs to fleet vehicles as required.
- Use diagnostic equipment to evaluate mechanical problems in vehicles.
- Maintain accurate, updated records of preventive maintenance.
- Ensure safe operations of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; making repairs.
- Determine feasibility of, and method of, repair or replacement by studying and interpreting manufacturer’s maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and other specifications.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, regulations, and timeframes.
- Welds equipment as needed.
- Keep maintenance equipment operational by following manufacturer’s instructions and established procedures.
- Conserve maintenance resources by safely using proper equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
- Travel to branches and job sites to perform repairs on equipment as needed.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed and as assigned that may not necessarily be mechanical related but are required to continue the growth of the company and present a professional and well-run image of the company.
- Performs other duties as assigned. Job duties are subject to change as directed by management.
- Skilled in the repair of light duty vehicles, heavy duty vehicles, heavy equipment, small engines and specialized construction equipment.
- Ability to diagnose mechanical problems and perform repairs
- Ability to operate equipment and tools involved in vehicle maintenance
- Ability to lift heavy equipment and vehicle parts.
- Skilled in repair and/or replacement of electrical systems, hydraulic systems, engine repair, clutch work, differentials and air systems.
- Strong Mechanical Background
- Ability to use computer-based vehicles and equipment electronic diagnosis software.
- Ability to weld with MIG and Stick welding process.
- Ability to function under time constraints.
- Ability to work unsupervised and prioritize work as necessary.
- Good communicator with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to work in fast paced environment
- Associate degree or Vocational school or short-term courses in Automotive repairs required.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid State of Residence Driver License is required.
- Class A CDL License is preferred, but not required.
- Candidates must pass criminal and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background checks and pass a pre-employment drug screen.
