Job Overview
Owl's Head Alloys, a 100% employee owned company is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Environmental Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the health and safety of our workplace environment. The Environmental Specialist is responsible for completing a variety of tasks to support the daily operations of the company. They facilitate the company’s environmental policies, procedures, training, guidance, and response to technical issues to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental health and safety laws and regulations.
Duties
•Maintain and continually improve the OH&S management system and ensure that the integrity of the OH&S is maintained when changes are made.
•Communicate the importance of meeting statutory and regulatory requirements.
•Conduct/participate in management reviews per section 9.3 of ISO’s (9001, 45001, and 14001).
•Ensure or make appropriate requests for the availability of resources needed for the establishment, implementation, maintenance, and continual improvement of the ISO’s management systems.
•Ensure compliance with EPA, and other environmental and safety regulations at the federal, state, and local levels by developing new, or enhance existing, policies and programs.
•Analyze work environments to identify environmental risks; prioritize and apply appropriate control mechanisms to address each concern.
•Develop, update, and implement inspection policies and procedures to ensure adherence to regulations.
•Maintain all required records for environmental compliance at the local, state, and federal levels. File, or oversee the filing of, required EPA and DOT reports.
•Analyze the environmental impact of operations and work with the team to ensure appropriate controls are implemented to maintain compliance.
•Assist the company’s representative in meetings or other interactions with compliance agencies and officials.
•Maintain current knowledge of developments in environmental and safety fields, and changes in federal, state, and local laws and regulations. This may include actively pursuing training opportunities and attending trade conferences.
Experience
•A degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
•Proven experience in environmental remediation and consulting is highly desirable.
•Familiarity with project scheduling and management principles is essential.
•Thorough understanding of state and federal environmental and safety regulations, OSHA and EPA.
•Thorough understanding of the management of chemical and hazardous materials.
•Strong analytical skills with the ability to conduct thorough research on environmental issues.
•Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with team members and stakeholders.

Pay: $20.15 - $24.27 per hour
