The sheet metal fabricator’s primary responsibility is to review sold jobs, determine what metalwork needs to take place using provided measurements, and fabricate any needed fittings and duct on a per job basis. This position plays a critical role, ensuring that HVAC installations are well researched and set up for success.
- Installation Job Review
- Review project notes, equipment sold, and measurement sheets provided to determine what metalwork is needed for a successful HVAC project/installation.
- Communication with lead installers, installation coordinators, and installation management about specific concerns or plans for each project.
- Sheet Metal Fabrication
- Prepare fittings and duct as needed per project/installation.
- Prepare and track stock of basic sheet metal parts and fittings (filter doors, drives, etc.)
- Maintain a safe workshop environment.
- Training
- Assist with training of lead and assistant installers to build basic sheet metal fittings.

- EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: High school diploma. Possess at least 2 years of HVAC experience. Residential and Light Commercial knowledge. Service/Install experience
- LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups and/or co-workers of the organization.
- MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratios, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- COMPUTER SKILLS: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of how to access and use the internet and have a good working knowledge of Data Entry (inventory) software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software. Microsoft Outlook knowledge and experience is helpful.
