Location: Wichita, KS (HQ) Compensation: $35,000–$50,000 salary (based on experience) Schedule: Monday–Thursday, four 10-hour days (~8:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.) Travel: ~30–50% of time on the road, primarily Western Kansas & Central Oklahoma
PetroPower delivers rugged IoT hardware and intelligent software solutions to the oil and gas industry. We are a nimble team focused on field-ready reliability and operational excellence. Our products combine embedded systems, sensor data, and smart diagnostics to keep energy flowing and minimal downtime.
The Field Service Technician will be based out of our Wichita, KS headquarters and will travel to customer sites to install, inspect, maintain, and repair PetroPower equipment. This role includes regular driving of a company truck, overnight travel, and working outdoors at oil & gas locations.
Training is provided—no specific prior industry experience is required.
- Drive a company-provided truck to remote work locations (primarily Western Kansas and Central Oklahoma, with occasional trips to Texas, Indiana, Colorado, and North Dakota).
- Install, inspect, maintain, and repair PetroPower equipment (well tank sensors, flow sensors, control panel boxes, etc.).
- Learn and support PetroPower’s two main product lines: Well IQ and T-REX (full on-the-job training provided).
- Follow detailed but clear written and verbal instructions to complete field tasks safely and correctly.
- Use hand tools (screwdrivers, torque wrenches, electric drivers, etc.) to assemble, mount, and adjust equipment.
- Operate software on a laptop to configure equipment, document work performed, and communicate with the office.
- Communicate clearly with team members, customers, and supervisors via phone, text, and chat apps.
- Represent PetroPower professionally and positively at customer sites.
- Report to and coordinate work with the Field Operations Manager.
- Entry-level candidates welcome – no specific experience required; we will provide on-the-job training.
- Bonus points for prior experience in oil & gas, industrial, construction, utilities, or field service work.
- Mechanical aptitude – you enjoy working with tools and understanding how things work.
- Ability to follow detailed directions and double-check your work for accuracy.
- Strong “get things done” attitude while maintaining attention to detail.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written (including text/chat apps).
- Comfortable using a laptop and learning new software tools.
- Must be at least 21 years old (insurance requirement).
- Clean driving record and ability to safely operate a company vehicle.
- Ability and willingness to travel 30–50% of the time, including overnight stays (most trips are single overnights, with occasional multi-night trips).
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable working outdoors and around production equipment in oil & gas environments.
- Ability to operate common hand tools: screwdrivers, torque wrenches, electric drivers, etc.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.- Standard workweek: Monday–Thursday, four 10-hour days (~8:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.).
Non-exempt role: paid a flat salary, with overtime paid when applicable.
- Base salary range: $35,000–$50,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications.
- PTO (paid time off) with manager approval + 8 company holidays.
- $300/month QSEHRA (Qualified Small Employer Health Reimbursement Arrangement) stipend for eligible healthcare reimbursements.
- Company-provided truck for work-related travel.
- All required tools and personal protective equipment (PPE) provided.
- Opportunity to grow with the company into senior technician, lead, or other roles as PetroPower expands.
